Concluding its recent European tour with concerts in Dusseldorf and Cologne, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra was received exuberantly by the local German press; "fabulous" wrote the Rheinische Post and "astonishing" exclaimed the Kölnische Rundschau.
Performing works by Stravinsky, John Adams, Kurt Weill and HK Gruber, the ensemble was led by Gruber himself for a performance of "Manhattan Broadcasts. "Here, the orchestra was augmented with drumset and jazz piano in the off-beat sections" wrote the Kölnische Rundschau. "Great and punchy playing from the Swedish brass and double bass. It was so much fun that HK Gruber let rip with a repeat of the last movement as an encore."The Swedish Chamber Orchestra is back on tour this summer with principal conductor Thomas Dausgaard for performances in Oslo, London, Rheingau and Salzburg, appearing at the renowned International Salzburg Festival.
